UIWONA

Since 1991, Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry (UIWONA) has provided programs and services to Aboriginal women, children and families in the Comox Valley and Northern Vancouver Island.

Promoting health, happiness and vitality for families through Indigenous Culture.

Early Years Development Programs

UIWONA’s Early Years Programs provide a nurturing and culturally inclusive environment for Indigenous children and families. Through play-based learning, language revitalization, and traditional teachings, we support early childhood development while strengthening connections to culture and community. Our programs foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and confidence, ensuring that our youngest generations grow up proud of their heritage and ready to thrive.

Adult Cultural & Support Programs

UIWONA’s Adult Programs empower Indigenous women and community members through culturally grounded learning, personal development, and support services. Whether through skills training, wellness initiatives, cultural workshops, or advocacy programs, we provide opportunities for growth, healing, and connection. Rooted in Indigenous traditions and community values, our programs foster resilience, self-sufficiency, and a strong sense of identity.
