UIWONA’s purpose is to be a channel of communication between women of Native Ancestry and other organizations and to meet as many needs as possible of native Women and their families.

Our Goals
- To bring programs and services to the Aboriginal community that offer cultural awareness, education, and support.
- To provide education experiences for children of Native Ancestry and their families and an opportunity for parents to enhanced their abilities to care for their children.
- To provide support for families who are enduring hardship.
- To provide training opportunities for women of Native Ancestry to enhance their abilities and knowledge.
- To educate and work with other registered charities on needs such as housing, education, parental support, and employment issues.

Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry (UIWONA) is dedicated to empowering Indigenous women, children, and families by providing culturally rooted programs, advocacy, and support services. Through education, community engagement, and cultural revitalization, we strive to strengthen identity, promote well-being, and foster a thriving future for Indigenous peoples in the Upper Island region.
We envision a future where Indigenous women and families are empowered, connected to their cultural heritage, and supported in achieving their full potential. Through leadership, community collaboration, and cultural resilience, UIWONA aims to create a world where Indigenous traditions flourish, families thrive, and future generations walk proudly in the footsteps of their ancestors.
